Production: Beluga lentils are a type of small, black lentil, which supposedly gets its name from their resemblance to Beluga caviar. They are grown in the cool, dry climates of Canada and America’s Northern plains.
Qualities: They are considered the most nutritious variety of lentils. One-half cup of uncooked black lentils provides about 26g of protein, 18g of fiber, 100mg of calcium, 8mg of iron, and 960mg of potassium.
Common Use: Depending on your cooking methods, they take approximately 25 minutes to cook and are delicious in soups, as lentil salads, or side dishes.
Storage: Store in a cool, dark, and dry place.
